We often treat our children the way we were treated. We try to distance ourselves from the behaviour of our parents and we have the chance to change the patterns we have inherited. But we need first to heal our inner child and then we would be able to be compassionate and understanding parents. The degree to which we have accepted ourselves and have healed the wounds. The pain our inner child experienced we are still experiencing, this is the guidance for us as parents and helps us to avoid certain behaviour and try new ways to cope with our children disobedience. Because of the pain we feel deep inside from our own childhood, we make our best to be loving, responsible and resourceful parent.

Our own pain is a message. A part of us needs to get our attention, wants us to come to rescue. When we experience pain of any kind this means that someone inside is still separated from the rest, it is asking for acceptance and reunion. The pain of childbirth is also there in the birth of a child video. It is also a message - a cry for reunion.

The trial of the parent is greater than the trial of birth. It is a constant effort to drop our expectations, and still guide our children according to the best values we know. It is a constant effort to accept our children for what they are, to allow them to be them and to express their feelings and respect them.
