Birth Videos

Birth videos can serve to raise mothers-to-be awareness to the options in childbirth.

There are now many options to view video with professional quality of from the video directories such as YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo video, Pure Video and others.

Watching birth clips can help you to see different alternatives. In the professional films there are a lot of interviews which can help you to gain a deeper insight into the experience of childbirth. They are a great source of education and childbirth preparation. Many of the organizations which provide classes on childbirth also have videos with extensive information.

Watching birth videos was very useful for me in my own preparation.

Birthing stories are wonderful and release the imagination, but videos are helpful in their own way. Birth videos show the birthing process as it is. Still, you need to remember that each birthing is unique. One's birthing experience will hardly resemble another's.

Yet we sometimes can pre-program our unconscious and choose a type of birth.

Be aware of how you react to birth videos. You can sense if there are emerging fears or hopes and deal with them safely before your own birth. Becoming aware of your feelings is very helpful.

Often in birth all our thoughts materialize, choosing them consciously can be very valuable. While we watch birth videos we can make a sort of rehearsal for the real moment.

Childbirth Resources

Spiritual Midwifery Book

The classic book on home birth is now available in a new edition, with updated information on the safety of natural childbirth, new birthing stories, and the most recent statistics on births managed by The Farm Midwives. Included are stories of working with Amish women, shedding light on a different culture with a similar appreciation for natural childbirth. Ina May also provides new information about potentially dangerous techniques routinely used in hospitals during and after birth, as well as the latest findings about VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). Improved instructions for handling breech births are also given. When the first edition of Spiritual Midwifery was published in 1976, it introduced an entire generation of young women to the possibility of home birth and breast feeding. It also breathed new life into the all-but-vanished field of midwifery.
