Cervical Mucus After Conception

Cervical mucus after conception changes really. These changes can be a telling sign of pregnancy, though it is unreliable on its own. After ovulation, if there is no conception, cervical mucus tapers off and becomes less slippery and stretchy.

Cervical mucus after conception will form your mucus plug. The mucus plug will cause the cervical mucus to become more and more dry as your pregnancy progresses. Later in pregnancy, there can be a discharge of cervical mucus that resembles an egg white.
After conception, there is an increased production of hormones, especially estrogen, that can lead to vaginal discharge -- part of this discharge is cervical mucus. There is also an increased flow of blood to the vaginal area. These two factors can cause secretion fron the vagina itself, which leads to vaginal discharge.

After ovulation, the egg is released into the fallopian tube and drift along to the womb. If you have predicted the approaching ovulation and had intercourse in the day or days before ovulation, between 100 and 300 million sperm may be rushing towards the ovum. Some sperm are lost, or heading in the wrong direction or up the wrong fallopian tube. Other sperm are considered hostile to the body and neutralized by the immunity-function of the white blood cells. In fact, out of the hundreds of million sperm, only several hundred will reach the egg. These will be the healthiest and most vital genetic information carriers.

Even reaching the egg is not an end. The question remains: Will the ovum get fertilized? The sperm meets the egg into lower part of a fallopian tube and start to swarm around it. The egg is covered with protective field known as zona pellucida. For fertilization to take place sperm cells must find a keyhole ore receptor to unlock the zona pellucida and reach the genetic core of the ovum, known as oocyte. Only one sperm will connect to the oocyte. This will signal the fertilization. When the ovum is fertilized it becomes zygote or embryo.

Even after conception, pregnancy is not confirmed. Implantation needs to take place. The zygote is free-floating into womb and there is complex phase of cell division and differentiation. Some cells will become the fetus, others will form the placenta, and still others -- the umbilical cord and the amniotic sac. For pregnancy to occur, the embryo must implant in the endometrium - the thick, vascular-rich uterine lining. Implantation takes place days or even a week after fertilization. After implantation, there is a hormonal surge. Progesterone sends a signal to the brain to not commence with menstruation.

You might have varies subjective feelings of being pregnant, but make it a point to wait until the delay of your period and make a test. Your body cannot tell you what is happening too early, as it does take time really. It is not a one day event.
