When it comes to pregnancy nutrition diet plan, the commonest question is, "Do you really need to eat for two?" The answer is a stunning "No!" You need just 300 calories extra everyday during pregnancy. And this amounts to a tuna sandwich or two and half cups low-fat milk!

So, if you have been taking large helpings of food during your meals, you are doing no good to either your baby or yourself. On the contrary, you are paving a way for gaining unnecessary weight that might give rise to pregnancy complications.

Be smart with regards to your pregnancy nutrition diet plan. Instead of extra servings during meals, why not have a couple of whole-wheat toast slices or a glass of orange juice between meals? This is not only nutritious, but also fills up the calorie requirement, without making you gain unnecessary pounds.

List Of Foods For Healthy Pregnancy Nutrition Diet Plan

About 9 or more servings of cereals, breads, and grains. Out of them, at least 4 servings should be of whole grain food.
About 7 or more servings of vegetables and fruits. A couple of them should be loaded with vitamin A and C.
A minimum of 3 servings of milk as well as milk products.
A minimum of 3 servings of protein such as nuts, peas, and dried beans.

Exceptional Cases

Now, there are certain conditions in which the above list may not be recommended. They are:

If you are excessively overweight, you might need to remove certain foods or servings of them from your diet for pregnancy. Discuss with your doctor, who will give you necessary guidelines regarding diet during this period.

If you are excessively underweight, you may need to add more servings of food in your daily diet for pregnancy.
If you are in your teens, your body will have more than average nutritional needs, as it's still growing. Again, your doctor knows best about teen pregnancy and what food should be eaten during that time.
If you are expecting twins or multiples, you will need extra nutrition.
If you are diabetic, you will have to keep a check on your blood sugar levels regularly during pregnancy. Your diet plan should be chalked out under the supervision of your doctor.
In case you develop gestational diabetes during this process, again, you need to be careful about your pregnancy nutritional requirements.

Let your pregnancy and diet go together, in order to deliver a healthy baby!

Pregnancy and pregnancy nutrition diet plan are two things that need extra care and attention from your side. A healthy diet leads to a healthy pregnancy and vice versa.

Spiritual Midwifery Book

The classic book on home birth is now available in a new edition, with updated information on the safety of natural childbirth, new birthing stories, and the most recent statistics on births managed by The Farm Midwives. Included are stories of working with Amish women, shedding light on a different culture with a similar appreciation for natural childbirth. Ina May also provides new information about potentially dangerous techniques routinely used in hospitals during and after birth, as well as the latest findings about VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). Improved instructions for handling breech births are also given. When the first edition of Spiritual Midwifery was published in 1976, it introduced an entire generation of young women to the possibility of home birth and breast feeding. It also breathed new life into the all-but-vanished field of midwifery.
