Videos of People Giving Birth

This video made me cry. It is hand-picked from the many videos of people giving birth online. I usually do not share hospital births, but this video is about love. The pictures were made with so much love and passion that they really touched me and moved me deeply. I love the scenery, the collages, the beautiful blending of the pregnant mother with nature. This video is a work of art, made with the heart, speaking to the heart.

The whole extended family is there to support the pregnant woman. It is a video of sustained family relations, of mutual understanding and support. This is not a common scene in videos of people giving birth.

The new baby is wanted, expected and welcomed. I love the bonding of the mother and baby after birth. It was so sweet. The mother and baby bonding are common in videos of people giving birth, but there is not often such a drama as here. Cesarean for the mother was turmoil, a trail. The first moment after birth, looking into her eyes you can see the pain and exhaustion. But a few seconds later she is blossoming like a flower, embracing her baby with her soul, touching it softly with her lips, whispering “I love you!”

There is such a feeling of love and loss at the same time. The mother knowingly sacrificed herself for the baby, bore any pain, let her soul bleed in childbirth, and at the same time poured out the river of love from inside to bathe her baby. Her tears turned into refreshing live waters washing her baby with love – a love so pure, so intense, so deep, and so fresh.

Enjoy this specially chosen video of the many videos of people giving birth.

Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah Lyrics

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Spiritual Midwifery Book

The classic book on home birth is now available in a new edition, with updated information on the safety of natural childbirth, new birthing stories, and the most recent statistics on births managed by The Farm Midwives. Included are stories of working with Amish women, shedding light on a different culture with a similar appreciation for natural childbirth. Ina May also provides new information about potentially dangerous techniques routinely used in hospitals during and after birth, as well as the latest findings about VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). Improved instructions for handling breech births are also given. When the first edition of Spiritual Midwifery was published in 1976, it introduced an entire generation of young women to the possibility of home birth and breast feeding. It also breathed new life into the all-but-vanished field of midwifery.
