If you are a woman trying to get pregnant, first realize that it is not just about some part of you. If you are ready for a baby, even in your late thirties and forties, you can conceive.

Yet, when there are some difficulties or delays it is normal to start looking for information and support. This is the best you can possibly do.

If your ability to conceive is related to age, be aware that the most common challenge for a woman trying to get pregnant is less frequent ovulation. Sometimes there are occasional cycles when an egg is never released. Egg quality and quantity is also very important and often decline with age.

Other reasons which can cause fertility issues are:

- Infection or surgery which caused scar tissue around the cervix of the fallopian tubes;

- Endometriosis;

- Uterine disorder or fibroids;

- Decline in quantity and quality of the cervical fluid;

- Chronic health problems such as overweight, diabetes, high blood pressure.

With age there is increased incidence of chromosomal abnormalities, which can cause miscarriage. for a woman trying to get pregnant over 35, it might take more effort to really relax, get in perfect shape , and return the overall vitality of her body.

You can increase your chances of conceiving if you:

-- Relax and know that it might take longer to do it naturally -- a 2 year period is just ok, so do not let doubt invade your heart too soon;

-- If you are in good healthy, enjoy life and have a spiritual meaning, you are more likely to conceive;

-- If you learn how to tell when your body is fertile by observing and understanding the signs it gives you, your chances are better. It is a good idea to start charting your menstrual cycles, taking your basal body temperature, checking the quality of the cervical fluid and have some clarity when is the best time to baby dance.

-- Consider using ovulation prediction kit and fertility monitor to make sure when you are most fertile and do not miss these days.

-- Visit your health care provider or find a doctor with whom you click emotionally and with whom you can really discuss your options.
